Apparently there was a bug. This is updated info from NuevaSync:

Before using NuevaSync you should verify the captcha text for your Google account. Even if you use your Google account regularly, you may not have needed to verify it before. Any user wishing to sync with Google should verify their account with Google first. Even if your account is already verified with them, there is no harm to re-verification.
For regular Gmail and Calendar accounts go to:
https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
For Google Apps accounts go to:
https://www.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/UnlockCaptcha (substitute 'YOURDOMAIN')

Try it - perhaps if fixes your contact sync problem.

I havn't seen anyone posting about getting this to work with NuevaSync, but there is another way you could try using Google's mobile setup. Check out this thread: http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/general-iphone-chat/236101-making-push-fetch-google-calendars-work-2-0-users.html

Great service! I got my Google Calendar syncing to my iPhone perfectly. However, the gmail contacts never came, and it cleared all my existing contacts. I do have them backed up in my outlook -- but I really want to switch to gmail contacts. Has anyone gotten this to work?
